Bridgerton Season 3 Will Make Lady Whistledown So Much Worse
Since the very first episode of Bridgerton, Lady Whistledown has been causing quite the commotion with her gossip columns, and she never hesitates to go for the jugular.
All the biggest scandals in town came from her anonymous society newsletter, after all. But if you thought she might hold back in the show's upcoming third season, our guess is we have another thing coming. As a matter of fact, there's a high chance she'll get worse than ever before.
As you may remember, at the end of season 1, it was revealed that the person hiding behind Lady Whistledown's mask was none other than Penelope Featherington. The end of season 2, however, wasn't any less dramatic than the first.
Colin Needs a Decade of Maturing for Bridgerton Season 3 Story to Work
We witnessed how Eloise put the pieces together and discovered that Penelope was the anonymous writer. And as if that wasn't bad enough, Penelope also overheard her secret crush, Colin Bridgerton, telling others that he only sees her as a friend and that he would never court her. Needless to say, this crushed her, and we saw her running away in tears. However, you'll be pleased to hear this doesn't mean she won't get her love story.
In fact, it's been announced that season 3 will mainly focus on her friends-to-lovers story with Colin. But what does that mean for Lady Whistledown?
With this new development, you might think Lady Whistledown won't be as present as before. But we believe she might actually become much worse. Why? Well, first of all, she needs to protect her identity. Lady Whistledown's anonymity is what makes other characters fear her. Just think about it – if someone knows all the juicy scandals and secrets, it must mean this sneaky person is in your immediate inner circle. This is alarming enough to make anyone paranoid and start looking into everyone they know.
Bridgerton's Sex Scenes Came With a Fair Share of Juggling
After all, her stories have impacted the lives of the ones closest to her. Imagine if they all found out that it was Penelope all along. Or even worse – imagine if Colin finds out that he put his trust in Lady Whistledown.
Let's not forget that writing this column has already ruined her friendship with Eloise. So, we would imagine she'll want to go to great lengths to hide her secret. This means things can get very messy as she might have to make the gossip even more outrageous to cover her tracks.
Secondly, Penelope didn't start writing the newsletter just because she was bored. Often overlooked by her own family as well as male suitors, no one ever thought much of her. The girl is even judged for having a passion for literature, for goodness sake!
Being Lady Whistledown, on the other hand, gives her a chance to do what she loves and be someone important, while in real life, she's constantly ignored.
