Does Missy really deserve to be disliked?

Two final episodes of season 6 were finally released last Thursday, on CBS. If you haven't watched the finale yet, you should do it first as this article may contain spoilers.

In the penultimate, 21st episode, Missy sneaks outside with her friend Tanya at night. Sheldon notices it, and Missy begs him not to tell their parents.

However, Sheldon does tell the parents about it because he was worried about Missy, as he later explains.

As expected, Missy got mad at Sheldon, and when he tried to explain himself, she interrupted him by saying a very mean "I hate you." This particular line got fans arguing on Reddit.

The original poster found this to be absolutely outrageous as Sheldon doesn't deserve such an attitude. Some fans agreed, stating that this fact tipped the scales towards disliking Missy.

Missy is a kind of character who provokes different emotions from season to season. In seasons 1-3 she was kind of a fun kid and pretty sympathetic.

But later, as she grew up, her rebellious demeanor got more and more evident which made some of the viewers lose their sympathy towards Missy.

However, many fans were fast to excuse Missy for saying such a seemingly harsh thing. Fans think that the parents would have eventually discovered the truth, but Sheldon revealed it earlier.

While Missy has grown tired of Sheldon consistently getting his way and being able to say whatever he wants and her mother's primary focus is often on Sheldon, it can be understandable why she said it.

Viewers, especially those with siblings, believe it is okay for teenagers to say something like "I hate you." It's usually an expression of their momentary feelings.

While Sheldon's aim wasn't to do any harm, telling the truth to the parents resulted in the situation where Missy is grounded for the whole summer while Sheldon gets his trip to Germany along with his mom, who again, always prioritizes Sheldon.

So it's no wonder that Missy reacted this way. It is just a feeling of unfairness.

So it's up to every single fan, but Missy definitely didn't do anything horrible enough to dislike her. Many fans still find Missy to be a relatable and engaging character, nonetheless.
