What, isn't she a villain?

Cassie Howard in the first season of Euphoria was nowhere near the person she became in season 2. Love for Nate Jacobs has truly prompted her to enter her villain era.

Her mental health has clearly worsened after she entered the controversial relationship with Nate, and she quickly lost her best friend, Maddie, who used to date him before. Everyone appeared to turn against her, while Nate would frequently scream at her and even call her by Maddie's name.

The Only Euphoria Character That is Legitimately Terrifying

While many people believe that Cassie is the true villain in season 2, there is a hot take: in fact, Nate Jacobs himself is to blame, because he is an abuser and he never deserved a girl like Cassie.

Before their relationship, Cassie was, in fact, a pretty nice character who was far away from being a villain. She was a good friend and a caring girlfriend to McKay.

"Cassie isn't a bad person, she just has some issues. For example, she put herself out of the internet for attention. That's how she landed McKay as a boyfriend. Sure, McKay was a great boyfriend but that wasn't what she was used to," Redditor OkSeaworthiness9747 said.

Others argue that both Cassie and Nate need help.

"Neither of them deserve anything but intense psychological help for their childhood trauma. Cassie grew up with an intense need for validation from her substance abusing father, and Nate grew up with an intense fear/repulsion of his sexually abusive father," Redditor whosthatdog_itsurmom argued.

The only actual issue people seem to have with Cassie is the fact that she basically backstabbed Maddie by dating Nate, even though Cassie claimed their relationship started when Nate and Maddie were on a break.

Nate, however, tends to be abusive towards literally anyone he dates — something that he might have inherited from his father with a tumultuous past and a double life that included struggling with his sexuality and keeping unsavory footage at home.

Just how the two characters will overcome their issues (if they will), we might see later when season 3 is released on HBO. While the platform has renewed Euphoria, the premiere date is yet to be scheduled.
