The Only Euphoria Character That is Legitimately Terrifying
There are weirdos, there are mean girls, there are drug addicts, but this one person is easily winning the contest when it comes to creepiness in Euphoria.
Let's get this straight: Euphoria is no place to look for noble protagonists, and the majority of the characters are questionable at best and outright meanies at worst.
But if you don't think that drug dealer Laurie from season 2 of Euphoria was the most terrifying person to ever appear in the show, then we simply don't believe you.
Laurie is arguably Euphoria's only actual, unhinged villain who is unlikely to have any viewers sympathizing for her. An emotionless middle-aged woman who used to be a schoolteacher, she does look like one, except she is perfectly capable of, say, selling someone to bandits for drug debt. In fact, this is exactly what she threatened to do to Rue if the latter failed to pay her fair share from selling the drugs Laurie gave her.
"Laurie is the only character in Euphoria that is legitimately terrifying to me (other than maybe Nate when he's at his worst). The other characters are broken, but Laurie seems like she doesn't even have a remnant of a soul left in her," one Redditor wrote.
For other fans, Laurie seemed like someone from an entirely different genre, not a teenage drama that Euphoria is.
"Mouse is (was) evil, but he never scared me as much as Laurie. He was a pretty predictable scary gangster who did scary gangster things, while Laurie is just straight-up an A24 horror movie villain," another Redditor noted.
When Laurie said in the show that she "always finds a way to make [her] money back", and added that she was "serious" about it, hardly anyone even thought of doubting that.
Creepiest Euphoria Scene That Left Fans Absolutely Petrified
Moreover, the fact that Laurie has not been killed off in the show still scares some fans, with people not ruling out that the former school teacher might be back in season 3 to haunt everyone again.
Euphoria's most intimidating character was portrayed by Martha Kelly. She appeared in three episodes in the second season, and the showrunners have not yet commented on the character's future in the show.
Season 3 has been greenlit by HBO, but the premiere date remains to be scheduled.
