This HIMYM Character Was Robbed of a Much-Deserved Happy Ending
It's been eight years since the big finale of How I Met Your Mother aired, and fans still can't get over how the show ended.
While it's true that not everyone gets a happy ending in sitcoms, and it's also not the best resolution for all storylines, there is one HIMYM character that truly deserved it but was simply robbed of it.
Since the day How I Met Your Mother made its debut, it had the audience hooked. The entire show was based around Ted Mosby telling his kids the story of how he met their mother – a mysterious woman whom the fans couldn't wait to meet. So, after her introduction, fans expected a very different finale to what they got. In fact, the much-anticipated final episode was one of the most disappointing ones in television history. Now, we must say, there were many things wrong with it. But the most upsetting part was Tracy McConnell (aka The Mother) not getting her happily ever after.
Throughout 9 seasons, we only see glimpses of Tracy, who's played by Cristin Milioti. By the end of the show's final season, we witness how she meets all of Ted's best friends before she meets him at the train station.
One Major Brooklyn Nine-Nine Character Almost Never Existed
She convinces Barney and Robin to be together, offers a ride to Marshall, who was hitchhiking with his son, and was ultimately the bass player in Robin and Barney's wedding band. As expected, viewers fell in love with her and thought she was the perfect fit for the role of The Mother. Finally, the fans felt at peace, knowing that Tracy and Ted would go on to have kids and a long, happy life together. Except, that's not exactly how it went.
Unfortunately, everyone's hopes and expectations weren't fulfilled because soon after the introduction, The Mother dies from a terminal illness and the show concluded with Ted going back to Robin. Needless to say, this upset millions of fans around the globe, as they felt The Mother deserved so much more.
For a character who was essential to the show, we didn't even get a chance to get to know her. It felt as if her whole personality amounted to being Ted's wife and, dare we say, a tool for him to get everything he ever dreamed of – the kids and Robin.
It Took a Whole Week To Plan Big Bang Theory's Most Iconic Scene
While it's understandable that she wasn't meant to be a leading character like the rest of the group, the way her story ended didn't do her justice.
