Remember that first kiss between Sheldon and Amy in Big Bang Theory? Of course you do. It was the moment Shamy became a real thing.

But did you know it took an entire week to plan it, so it was just right?

Of course, we first saw sparks of chemistry between the two long before this scene was on the agenda. As far back as season 3, in fact.

Amy had signed up to online dating to placate her mother, while Sheldon's profile was created by Howard and Raj as a prank. At the end of season 3, the two got together – and so began a long, drawn-out romance that would eventually lead to that kiss.

In an interview with OK! Magazine, though, Mayim Bialik (who played Amy Farrah Fowler) revealed that the kiss was the result of a week's serious behind the scenes planning. Both actors were aware how significant this moment could end up being for the show and were desperate to make sure it achieved iconic status – particularly as it was such a defining moment, not just for the show but for both character arcs.

And it's fair to say it delivered. In fact, it was so successful and so well received that it became the first of many massive moments in the lives of the couple.

And, naturally, this blossoming and wholesome romance culminated in a touching and emotional wedding.

And then…the show ended. But hey, the great thing about iconic moments in TV these days, is that you can watch them again, and again, and again. With so many channels showing reruns of popular shows – and of the course the marvel that is YouTube – we can enjoy that sweet kiss whenever and wherever we want.

Which means that all the planning and preparation that went into crafting the scene to be just perfect and topped off with a moment of genuine TV gold, was very much worth it.

And if you enjoyed seeing the onscreen chemistry between Jim Parsons and Mayim Bialik, you'll no doubt be glad to hear that there are rumours going around that they are set to star together again. If the rumours are true, it will be a new Fox show with them taking on different roles – but the chemistry will still be there!

In the meantime – you can always go back and watch those reruns of Big Bang Theory.
