When it comes to our favorite shows, most of us grow to love the characters the way they are. But every once in a while, there comes a time when showrunners decide to switch things up.

From hair and makeup to clothing, makeovers can be a great plot turn in some cases, while not so good in others. And with this one character on The Big Bang Theory , the makeover almost felt like a betrayal to the star that portrayed her.

TBBT is the type of series that gets its audience hooked on characters who have their own peculiarities, both in personality and appearance. Their mannerisms, clothes, and behavior play an integral part in what makes them unique.

That's why doing a makeover for any of the main characters can get tricky for the fans, as well as the actors that represent them.

And this was exactly the case for actress Mayim Bialik, who plays Sheldon's partner, Amy Fowler in the hit sitcom. The show's finale was full of unexpected twists and turns, but the most pleasant moment was when we saw Amy all transformed. For the first time in years, Amy sported shorter hair with curls, lipstick and a dress that complimented her figure, which made her look happy and, dare we say, flirty.

This makeover was a long time coming and Bialik was looking forward to Amy having a change in her appearance. "The one thing, I've been asking for this for years and nobody seems to care, but I'm just going to keep saying it in interviews, they've never done an ugly duckling episode where they've taken Amy and totally done her hair and full makeup," she told The Insider in 2017.

However, when that day finally arrived, Bialik felt like it wasn't true to her character. She revealed in the newly released book The Big Bang Theory: The Definitive, Inside Story of the Epic Hit Series that she wasn't sure she agreed with the writers. She admitted that even though she loved that she got a chance to wear nicer clothes and have her hair cut after rocking the same style for years, it did feel like a betrayal of Amy in some ways.

"We didn't go crazy and have her dressing in ways that completely didn't look like her… but it was definitely something I had a conflict about. I thought it would be, 'Let's dress Amy up and take her out for the night!' I didn't think it would be, like, here's her new normal," she disclosed.
