Looks like Blockbuster's time in the spotlight was shorter than a Redbox rental.

Netflix has decided not to renew its new comedy series, Blockbuster, for a second season. The single-camera workplace comedy, which starred Randall Park, had a quiet run after launching on November 3rd and never made it into Netflix's weekly top 10 list. The show received a lot of attention prior to its release due to the history between Netflix and Blockbuster. Netflix is famously known for "killing" the video chain, which contributed to the demise of many physical video rental stores.

For some Netflix fans, the fact that the streaming giant was making a comedy about Blockbuster after contributing to its downfall was seen as a witty joke. However, for others, it was seen as a cruel move. Despite all the buzz surrounding the show, it wasn't enough to attract a large viewership. Blockbuster Season 1 ended on a cliffhanger.

Despite having a strong comedy cast led by Melissa Fumero and Randall Park, the show simply didn't live up to expectations. Many fans were hoping for some nostalgia from the 90s, but the show ended up being just a subpar workplace comedy. Another complaint about the show was the poor writing. Despite having a talented cast, the writing was some of the worst that many viewers had seen in a long time.

The cancelation of Blockbuster has left many fans disappointed and angry.

One fan even commented that "it almost seems like they picked up this obvious stinker of a show just for the opportunity to dance on Blockbuster's grave again."

Another fan commented, "I was really excited for Blockbuster when I heard about it, but unfortunately it just didn't live up to the hype. The writing was weak and it just wasn't very funny. Still, I'm disappointed that we won't get to see any more episodes."

Others expressed frustration with the decision, with one fan saying, "I can't believe Netflix would cancel a show about Blockbuster after contributing to its demise. It feels like they're just rubbing salt in the wounds."

It's clear that the show's cancelation has left a sour taste in the mouths of many fans who were hoping for a more successful and entertaining series.
