The Marvelous Mrs Maisel's Reid Scott Comes To Save The Day At Law & Order
Right in time for when the franchise needs him the most.
Summary:
- Law & Order was the NBC procedural drama that became the foundation for Dick Wolf's sprawling TV universe.
- The show was revived in 2021 but has already seen two major departures in its two years of production.
- Now, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel 's Reid Scott joins Law & Order as another regular character.
If there's one thing that can completely ruin the excitement fans have for a TV show, it's the departure of an actor who held the show together. Of course, a topic like this is always subjective for each fan to decide, but sometimes the reaction of the online community is united enough to make sense of the general opinion.
And the general opinion on Jeffrey Donovan leaving the rebooted Law & Order after only two seasons on board was bad, to say the least. As usual in such cases, viewers were quick to judge the show's writers and producers for failing to keep up with the actor's needs and potential.
The vague description of the reason why we won't see Det. Frank Cosgrove on our screens again is called "creative differences," and it didn't help at all to clear up the arguments around the exit. If anything, it made viewers even more certain that the actor didn't agree with what was going on behind the scenes of the show.
Do We Have a Detective Frank Cosgrove 2.0?
Just a week later, however, the news of Donovan's departure was followed by news of another actor joining Dick Wolf's flagship procedural with an as-yet-unnamed character. Joining the cast as another detective, likely to replace Frank Cosgrove, is none other than Reid Scott.
As reported by Deadline, the alum of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and Veep will join the cast as a series regular beginning with the upcoming season 23. There aren't many details about the character yet, but viewers are hoping that he'll be able to stick around for more than just a season or two.
So far, the reboot hasn't been too successful in keeping its cast together, as there was already an exit of Anthony Anderson, who reprised his role from the original run but didn't get past season 21. While it's too early to call a trend based on just two cases, fans are worried that the show's revival won't be as long-lived as the original series.
If you are interested in learning more about Reid Scott's character and what the team will be dealing with in the new year, you should tune in to NBC on January 18, 2024, to watch the premiere episode of Law & Order season 23.
Until then, you can re-watch two decades of crime and drama on Peacock Premium or NBC Online.
