What can be better than an emo superhero lead? Two emo superhero leads!

If you have ever thought about combining Robert Pattinson 's Batman and Tom Sturridge 's Sandman on screen, you have a friend in at least one DCU star. Andy Serkis, who portrayed Alfred in Matt Reeves' The Batman, believes that a crossover between the two seemingly different worlds might be a great idea.

The Batman sequel, just like The Sandman 's second season, is currently in the works, although chances are that Tom Sturridge will return to screens quicker than Pattinsons would. With The Batman 2 unlikely to arrive earlier than 2025, little is known about its plot and characters.

But Serkis flirts with a certain idea.

"I'm sure Matt Reeves is going to craft something incredible because he always does. He's another formidable storyteller that always goes for the heart. Villain-wise, I'd like to see… Sandman. [Laughs] A little bit of a crossover. I think that would be interesting," Serkis told Screen Rant.

Many fans are actually into the idea of seeing Pattinson's and Sturridge's characters alongside each other on screen.

Still, the crossover is highly unlikely to happen. Despite both characters being DC alums, their universes are starkly different. The Batman is not connected to other DC films, so the chances of it mingling with The Sandman are low, even though Reeves technically has means to play by his own rules.

No matter how tempting the idea is, the two characters currently have their own separate paths. With The Batman awaiting its sequel sometime around 2025, the second season of The Sandman has been recently greenlit by Netflix for a yet-to-be-scheduled release date.

The Sandman Season 2 Tease Probably Has More to It Than We Thought

The plot for the second season remains a mystery, although many fans have already suggested that it will adapt Seasons of Mist along with several other arcs from Neil Gaiman 's original graphic novel. The first season is currently available for streaming on Netflix.
