Chicago Fire fans are truly devoted to the show, and no wonder: it never fails to put you on edge and keeps coming up with creative nerve-wracking scenarios…

But there's one aspect of it where it sometimes fails — the same one as with the other Chicago shows.

The writers tend to make very questionable decisions regarding their characters from time to time, and it's not the first time we're bringing this up.

Right now, we're talking about Carver. And we're pretty convinced you already realize what we mean.

No one cares about Carver.

No one.

To the point where there's an entire Reddit discussion with a bunch of people, and not a single person has anything good to say about this character.

It seems that the writers themselves have no idea what to do with Carver. For some reason, they keep forcing him upon the viewers, though — and the reasons for that are likely to remain an unsolved mystery.

Carver brings nothing to the table.

His character is written so poorly that it almost seems intentional: it's like he was supposed to be transferred to a different house after a couple of episodes, but then everyone forgot about him and he just exists with no purpose whatsoever.

Carver's got one repetitive storyline with Stella, and that's it. He doesn't talk with anyone but her, and even those interactions are useless. Every week is the same with him: one step forward, one step back.

If there was an attempt to make Carver a mysterious character everyone's interested in, it failed dramatically. Neither the other characters (apart from Stella, somehow) nor the viewers are interested in him, and on top of that, he's just not likable.

Not a single person has ever said, "Wow, I like Carver, he's such a mystery — I can't wait to see more of him standing to the side not interacting with other guys!"

There's only one semi-coherent theory on why this character even exists: either to test Stella's feelings towards Severide and prove she really loves him or to add some more drama by making Stella for Carver as, apparently, she's the only person somewhat interested in his mysterious uselessness.

Both reasons seem… Questionable, to say the least.

Other than that, the fans can agree on one thing: Carver needs to either leave the show altogether or suddenly become an actual character that has at least a couple of viewers invested in him.
