Huge Harry Potter Plothole: Dumbledore Might Actually Be Dumb
Hang on: this is not your run-of-the-mill Dumbledore hate piece, we actually have proof to back up our claims!
When Harry, Ron, and Hermione go Horcrux-hunting, they do it practically blindfolded – no plan, no idea where to start, no clue what the Horcruxes are, nothing.
At one point, Ron even complains about this (and rightfully so).
The question circling all our brains when rereading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is this: why didn't Dumbledore do more to help them?
One fan actually has a simple explanation: Dumbledore is an idiot (sorry, folks!).
In the video, he suggests that Dumbledore could have helped the Golden Trio on their Horcrux hunt if only he had made another portrait of himself.
It is common knowledge that magical portraits are ten times better than muggle ones because they are essentially "extensions of the consciousness of deceased people," and Dumbledore's portrait in the headmaster's office is no exception.
At the end of the final book, Harry can even talk to it, and we find out that portrait Dumbledore is "sentient enough" to know all about the manipulation master's plans.
Another fun fact: we know that wizards are able to travel between their portraits – for example, former headmaster Phineas Nigellus Black could go back and forth between his portraits in Hogwarts and at Grimmauld Place.
For crying out loud, Hermione even put one of them in her handbag at one point!
In a nutshell, Dumbledore is officially a douche. He knew he was going to die soon (heck, he planned it!), he left the Trio an inheritance (in the most idiotic way possible, by the way), and he made sure Snape delivered the Sword to Harry.
Why couldn't he have been brilliant once again? Why not just order another portrait of himself and leave it to Harry in his will?
That way, Dumbledore could have helped them the whole time, and the hunt would probably have been less stressful, taken less time, and been more enjoyable overall.
Seems like our fave (now not so much) headmaster wanted Harry to suffer just a little more before he died for the greater good.
