The Dance of the Dragons is coming in House of the Dragon. Tragic events of the latest aired episode, The Lord of the Tides, have led Greens and Blacks to the big civil war.

Probably the last minutes of King Viserys have served as the biggest trigger for the upcoming bloodbath. With his last breath, Viserys revealed the secret Aegon's prophecy to his wife Alicent thinking he was talking to the only person already familiar with the prophecy, Princess Rhaenyra. Alicent misinterpreted his words and came out of the room, confident that the king changed his mind about the succession to the Iron Throne in favor of their son Aegon. Thus, King Viserys pushed things closer to war.

Paddy Considine told New York Times that if Viserys knew about his mistake and its consequences for the realm and his family, he "would be turning in his grave."

Rhaenyra and Daemon Age Difference Isn't the Most Sickening Thing About Their Relationship

Could the crisis have been averted? Besides Alicent's earnest mistake – let's be fair, there are so many Aegons in the family that even George R.R. Martin himself wouldn't understand who the dying king was muttering about – there are many other reasons for Hightowers to reject Rhaenyra as Queen of Westeros. However, it would hugely help if someone else knew about the Aegon's prophecy and explained the mistake to the Greens.

As it happens, there is one deleted scene in the show that directly relates to the business. In the deleted scene, King Viserys tries to tell his brother Prince Daemon about the prophecy, or rather check if Daemon is ready for such revelation. In the scene happening after the king's first wife Aemma's death, Viserys starts a conversation about gods and prophecies to see where Daemon stands with his beliefs. But the whole scene seemed unnatural to both creators and actors. It is totally against Daemon's character to believe in such things. "He'd laugh Viserys out of the room," Paddy Considine said.

Who's Going to Die in House of the Dragon Finale?

Even if King Viserys told Prince Daemon the big Targaryen secret, could the civil war be averted? It is very unlikely given the nature of the rogue prince – who would probably forget about the prophecy as soon as the talk was over – and Hightowers who are too eager to sit their descendant on the Iron Throne.

Whether we want it or not, the Dance of the Dragons is coming. We are to watch Hightowers react to the misinterpreted prophecy this Sunday in episode 9 called The Green Council.
