Henry Cavill Would Be Perfect The MCU's Hercules, and This Fanart Proves It
We saw Henry Cavill as Superman in cameo in Dwayne Johnson's Black Adam, and it was something that Superman fans have been waiting for a long time. But have you ever caught a glimpse of the ex-Witcher as any other superhero? If not, it's high time to see the Geralt actor as Marvel's Hercules.
Yes, we know, it is true that it is Roy Kent, sorry, Brett Goldstein, who debuted in the role of Hercules in Thor: Love and Thunder, much to the disappointment of the fans.
And one of the reasons for said disappointment – apart from the actor's physique – was that it is Ted Lasso 's fictional AFC Richmond footballer Roy Kent that most people associate Brett Goldstein with, and not the Greek god.
Well, if nothing else, Goldstein deserves credit for his perseverance in gaining some muscle before filming. For him, being cast as Hercules came as a shock too.
"They turn around, and they reveal, 'It's Hercules; it's you.' And I went, 'What?' Just like, 'Are you serious?" he revealed to The Playlist.
The actor told Love and Thunder director Taika Watiti that he "basically looked like a skinny comedian." Goldstein went to the gym to work out hard, but he only had two weeks before the shoot, so he did his best.
The casting is done, and the only thing MCU fans can do now is exercise their wit and make their own list of actors they think would make the perfect Hercules. And Henry Cavill is high on their list.
It was back in 2020 when a Twitter user Alexander Lozano, who describes himself as an artist working with movies, games and comics, posted a pencil drawn Hercules portrayed by Cavill. What does it take to play a mighty and powerful Greek god? Well, apparently you have to be a pumped-up, physically strong and attractive man with a beard. Lozano's pencil sketch may not qualify as a masterpiece like Paul Cadden's, but it gives you an idea of what the Enola Holmes actor might look like as Hercules.
Actors tend to come and go, and if the MCU's army of loyal fans rise up against Goldstein, Henry Cavill may be able to save Marvel – all he has to do is show them the sketch.
All jokes aside, there have been reports in the media that Cavill has not yet signed a contract with DC Studios. Basically, this means that Cavill has no formal deal with the studio to return. And some people familiar with the situation on the ground claim that the new DC studio bosses, Gunn and Safran, are focused on the long-term vision of the DCU right now and will be making some big announcements in the next couple of weeks, according to The Wrap.
Meanwhile, James Gunn debunked Geekosity's tweeted article claiming Henry Cavill's new contract includes Superman TV appearances. In his response to the tweet, the DC studio co-head said it's a lie and that only he and Peter [Safran] know what's going on at DC Studios right now including "writing up any new contracts for anyone at this point."
