You’d think Sophie Turner would make her potential boyfriend watch Game of Thrones instead, but her love for the story of The Boy Who Lived was stronger.

Game of Thrones is one of the biggest TV shows to have ever existed, and Sophie Turner was one of its leading actresses for many years. Despite everything she’d gone through both on- and off-screen to make it, GoT was not her concern when she was just starting her relationship with Joe Jonas: it was an entirely different franchise.

The Harry Potter series is universally beloved in the world, and while there are millions of Potterheads around, it’s always heartwarming to learn that one of your favorite celebrities is on The Boy Who Lived wagon, too. Sophie Turner, for one, has always been a huge Harry Potter nerd, and she holds this story very dear.

So dear, in fact, that when her relationship with Joe Jonas was just beginning, she made it a mandatory requirement that he had to read all the books before she’d agree to become his girlfriend! That was not up to discussion, as Jonas revealed.

"Sophie, she said, 'Look, if we're going to get married' — and it was actually, 'If you're going to date me, you have to watch the Harry Potters.' Because every Christmas, for those of you that are watching that don't know, every Christmas in the UK, they just stream and play Harry Potter, all of them. So I watched them all, and I fell in love with it,” the singer shared with EW.

However, despite his loving the Harry Potter books, Jonas came up with a requirement of his own for Sophie: he, too, had a franchise she had to dive into.

"And I was like, 'Well, look, my rule is that you have to watch Lord of the Rings.' So we've been binge-watching Lord of the Rings during [the quarantine] and building the Legos that go with the movies, which is quite fun," Jonas added.

Everyone has relationship standards, but we only appreciate nerdy ones like these. What does it matter if someone’s cute if you can’t build your LEGO Hogwarts or Mordor with them? This right here, folks, is the true relationship goal.

Whose side are you on?
