The General Hospital has been running for many (many!) years and during this time there have been successful and flopped storylines. However, one particular recurring mistake of the writers brought the fans into a frenzy.

Sometimes screenwriters leave events that are not very important to the plot "behind the scenes" so as not to waste screen time.

In such cases, the viewers can learn what happened from the characters' conversations or other plot clues and hints.

However, when it comes to one of the main storylines, when the character learns something shocking, the fans' natural desire is to see the reaction.

But the writers of General Hospital don't seem to think so, which makes fans extremely angry. In one of the episodes, Trina was drugged and did not remember anything for twelve hours.

The audience knew it was Esme from the conversation between Spencer and Britt, but no one revealed the identity of the poisoner to the victim herself.

Below Deck Fans Are So Ready To Boot This Couple From The Show

At least not on screen, as it turned out. At one point, Trina just throws a phrase that she knows who drugged her.

Fans were so shocked that the character could just pull this knowledge out of thin air that they began to wonder if they had missed the episode that showed how Trina figured it all out. Turns out they didn't miss it – the fact just wasn't shown.

"Clearly Trina found out because she mentioned it to Esme today. So given that, all I'm wondering is why we didn't get to see Trina finding out. The show didn't even have to mention how the drugging was discovered, but we should've gotten to see her reaction," Reddit user Amazed_and_Bemused commented.

In this regard, fans complain that the storyline of General Hospital has lost its logic and that the actions of the characters and their motivations seem random, as if the writers ran out of ideas what to do with the plot.

"Newsflash GH's storylines do not have the basic beginning-middle-end. I started watching in 2018. It took me a few years to realize this. It's a roll of the dice thing," Reddit user Life-Kaleidoscope568 added.

Fans agree that a show that's been on TV for so long and still manages to get good ratings deserves respect for that alone.

However, if General Hospital's creators continue to cut off major storylines and create new ones out of thin air, they risk losing a significant portion of their by far loyal audience.
