Is there actually hope to bring more viewers back?

Throughout the years that General Hospital has been on the air, the show has lost many of its cast members and welcomed many others back. As with any soap, some actors have chosen to leave to pursue other projects, and other characters' arcs have naturally come to an end.

Recently, however, it felt like the show wasn't being smart about its casting decisions. From the infamous Molly replacement scramble following Haley Pullos' criminal charges to the loss of Nicholas Chavez to Netflix, General Hospital has struggled to keep viewers' attention.

Is Michael Easton Leaving General Hospital?

However, from what it seems now, the show has taken a different approach and finally listened to what people have been saying. The inflated cast doesn't do the show justice anymore, so if they really want to get into the meaningful stories, they need to get rid of someone the audience doesn't care about.

Writing off Dr. Hamilton Finn is a small but confident step in the right direction.

Easton has been portraying Hamilton Finn since 2016, and for the past eight years, fans have done their best to fall in love with the character, who has been done very dirty by the writers. Despite having a great actor to portray the role, General Hospital made Finn bland and unlikable even before his relapse, so viewers wanted to see him go for years.

This decision, combined with the news of Jonathan Jackson's Lucky Spencer comeback, promises another chapter for Liz Webber, who's been stuck in this relationship long enough.

Those viewers who were there to see the whole Liz and Lucky story are still clamoring for them to get back together, so this may be just what the show needs to bring more eyes to the screens. Between Michael Easton's final scene airing on June 27 and Jackson's return, this summer promises to be one of the most exciting Port Charles has seen in years.

If you are intrigued by all the tossing and turning within the soap's cast and want to see how it plays out on screen, be sure to tune in to the latest episodes of General Hospital Monday through Friday on ABC.
