General Hospital Fans Rank All The Actresses Portraying Carly Throughout The Years

General Hospital wouldn't be the same soap the audience knows and loves if it weren't for recasts.

Sometimes they can be hit and miss, but generally speaking, recasts are the force that keeps the show going for so many years. It wouldn't be possible to spend so much time with the audience's favorite characters if the actors didn't change.

One of the characters that fans feel is past her prime, but still central to the story, is Carly Corinthos. She has always been controversial, but in recent years, fans have felt ready to give up on her completely.

The writers, however, disagree and Carly is still heavily involved in most of the arcs.

One of the ways to freshen things up would be to recast Carly, which would also make sense since Laura Wright, who has been portraying her in recent years, was cast for more than 15 years.

Laura Wright may not be as hated as Jennifer Bransford, but she definitely couldn't compete with any of the other Carly's actresses in the eyes of the audience.

It might be the unfortunate timing of her joining the show, as she had to step in in 2005, right after Bransford was fired, or the fact that she seems tired and overworked to fans today.

Either way, there is a reason why Wright is such a controversial figure among fans.

For many General Hospital fans, it took time to warm up to Tamara Braun and the change she brought to Carly's character.

However, she performed so well that she ended up being the favorite of many people. All the softness and vulnerability that Carly showed through her acting paid off and made her character more likable overall.

Not surprisingly, the original actress who first portrayed Carly is still the leader in fan ratings.

Sarah Joy Brown gave the character a perfect introduction to the General Hospital universe back in April 1996, when she was still Carly Roberts and had no connection to her future husband Sonny.

She's still very much remembered and loved by grateful fans.
