General Hospital Doesn’t Know What to Do With Sasha Anymore, and It Shows
Let’s just hope they’re cooking something good.
Summary:
- General Hospital is a soap opera that has been running on ABC for more than 60 years.
- Although the show has recycled many storylines over the years, the writers continue to come up with new ones, some more acclaimed than others.
- Sasha Gilmore's character arc has been a point of criticism for years, and it doesn't look like it's going to change for the better anytime soon.
It is now very clear through the prism of years that there are some characters that end up being favored by General Hospital writers over others. While this sometimes leads to great twisted and dramatic storylines that soap as a genre seems to be lacking lately, other times less favored characters end up being straight up tortured.
This has been the case with Sasha Gilmore for years. Diving into General Hospital related social media accounts, one can find pleas from viewers to stop Sasha's mystery from two years ago and earlier. Even though she seems to be in a relatively good place now, it's becoming more and more obvious that the writers just don't know how to handle her happy.
What Happened to Sasha Gilmore in General Hospital?
To say that Sasha has had some rough patches in her life over the years would be an understatement. From losing her child to being tortured in a mental institution, many fans truly believe that she is the character who has suffered the most on General Hospital in recent years.
Considering that the soap doesn't shy away from the darkest of topics, that alone says a lot about her character arc. However, with a change in head writers, it seems that Sasha's life has finally taken a turn for the better. The only problem is that the new storyline doesn't make any sense.
In last week's episode, Sasha accepted a strange job offer from the Quartermaine family. Surprisingly, it was Olivia who asked for help in the kitchen, as she cannot juggle so many responsibilities at once. Surprisingly, viewers learned of Sasha's hidden passion for cooking when she accepted.
Since Sasha has gone through so much emotional trauma and healing over the past few years, many people thought this job was too insignificant for her to take on. Watching General Hospital before, you would think that the writers were at least preparing her character to be a motivational speaker for people struggling with similar issues.
Of course, no strange event in Port Charles happens for no reason. This twist probably means that something much bigger and, hopefully, much better is cooking up for Sasha Gilmore in the writers' room. Until then, however, we will have to watch as she feeds the entire Quartermaine clan. Not the worst cards she has been dealt!
