Fans Up in Arms Over General Hospital Recycling The Same Storyline Over Again
General Hospital is an ABC daytime soap opera that premiered in 1963 and is still airing.
Over the years the show had changed its main characters several times. Well it's only natural, when they get older in front of cameras and need to be sometimes replaced by new ones.
But it seems that changing names is the only thing that writers of the show are doing with success. Fans are getting sick and tired of the same storylines repeating over and over again.
They also highlighted that the stories around Carly and Nina's relationship are just not worth that much screen time.
"Unfortunately, the writer's seem to like to recycle the same story. Tit for tat over and over is getting kind of predictable and boring. I wish they would move on from this storyline for both of their character's sakes," Reddit user NYCMamabear complained.
Over the last 2 years their relationship was based on Carly being wronged by Nina, fans claim. She had to take over Sonny's organization because she was wronged by Nina not telling her Sonny was still alive.
She kept Nina being Willow's mother a secret because she was wronged by Nina. And the list goes on, unfortunately for fans.
"It's the writer's fault IMO. They could take Carly in a million directions and have it be intriguing but they keep this feud with Nina alive. I'd like it more if the women were friends and battling a mob family who kidnapped Sonny or something," Reddit user EdA19 said.
This storyline goes way back. Apparently the writers' idea is to make Sonny's "the other woman" look mean, selfish, incompetent and etc., just so that Carly would have a better image.
So the role of Nina is understandable, although fans think they know what could have spiced things up.
"Several years ago when Maxie was working for Nina she had an interesting conversation with someone from Pine Valley. It was one sided of course but Maxie said she didn't care if Erika Kane wanted Crimson or something along those lines. This would be a perfect storyline," Reddit user MirabelleC said.
Well, let's hope that the show's creative team reads Reddit. Then there is a chance General Hospital may try a new plot twist for once.
