Emma Thompson Opens Up About Her Less-than-stellar Love Actually Paycheck
As Christmas season classic Love Actually is celebrating 20 years since its release, the cast of the iconic movie is all around the media these days.
Back in November the actors reunited for ABC special The Laughter & Secrets of Love Actually: 20 Years Later, hosted by Diane Sawyer when they shared their memories of the filming process and recalled some of the behind-the-scenes, the PM David's victory dance for instance.
One of the movie's leads, Emma Thompson, has recently made another TV appearance. This time she joined Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and she made an interesting revelation, which made everybody crazy. Thompson said that she was underpaid!
"I don't think I was very well paid for that. There was that terrible trailer with the loo that really stank and had that sort of… That's the things you remember, not the good ones," the Karen actress has joked as both bust out in laughter.
It is not known how much the British actress was paid for inhabiting the character of a stay-at-home mother whose husband was cheating on her. But the fact is that Claudia Schiffer's pay for her 1-minute cameo was around $250,000, which sounds impressive.
It has been reported that Thompson's net worth is estimated to be at least $40 million. The actress' career started in the beginning of the 1980s and it was the BBC TV miniseries "Tutti Frutti" and "Fortunes of War", which made her truly famous. So, it took her about forty years to accumulate wealth.
Thompson's only publicly known salary was $1.5 million for starring in Junior along with Arnold Schwarzenegger but that was back in 1994.
However, it is the Harry Potter franchise which is likely to have contributed greatly to Thompson's staggering net worth. The actress portrayed half-blood witch Professor Sybill Trelawney in three installments of the franchise – she starred in 2004's Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and finally Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2. While the paycheck for her participation in the franchise has never been made public we can assume that it was rather impressive – just look how much other actors were paid.

Daniel Radcliffe was reported to have made almost $100 million while Emma Watson reportedly got some $70 million for their roles in the Harry Potter movies.
Since calculating someone else's money is what the celebrity journalists are fond of doing, no wonder Emma Thompson's paycheck is kept secret.
