As far as police procedurals go, The Rookie may be the funniest and lightest one yet. Thanks to its premise and the brilliant humorous talent of Nathan Fillion, who portrays the main character John Nolan, the show is a pleasure to watch after a long day at work.

Of course, that doesn't mean that The Rookie doesn't have its share of drama, but it's generally not what people are looking for when they watch it.

Besides, if you look back at all the dramatic twists and cliffhangers that the show has had over the past 5 years, they never really ended in a satisfying way.

Unfortunately, the big cliffhanger of season 5, which made a lot of people really curious, has also been brushed under the rug. This time, however, there is still hope that it will be addressed.

Originally created to pique the audience's curiosity about the show and bring more viewers to their screens on premiere day, cliffhangers are still widely used by various series creators.

However, if they are done poorly, they tend to make viewers even angrier. And The Rookie is in danger of falling into this trap.

Though viewers of this show generally tend to take plot twists lightly, the careless way The Rookie handles its intrigues is starting to irritate even the most patient of fans. From the looks of it, the drama carries every single season finale through the same chain.

The writers end the episode on a cliffhanger, quickly address the situation in the following season's premiere episode, consider it resolved for the rest of the season, and never return to it, as if said storyline didn't even exist. It was fine at first, but by the fifth circle it starts to get annoying to viewers.

To play devil's advocate, this time around The Rookie has an excuse for glossing over some issues in the second episode, as it was a celebratory episode.

Having reached the 100-episode milestone, the show wanted to dedicate the episode to what has meant the most to the writers and viewers throughout the show, and we can see how some things could have been left out of the script. The problem is that there is almost no reason to believe that they will be addressed later.
