1. Primal, 2019-...
Rotten Tomatoes Score: 100%
Primal is a bloody and almost completely silent animated series about prehistoric times. According to the plot, the main character, who has lost his family, tries to survive in a dangerous world inhabited by predatory dinosaurs.
Unexpectedly, he teams up with a female Tyrannosaurus who lost her brood to the same pack of predators that killed his "wife" and child. Together they try to track down the dinosaurs and take revenge on them. The series was created by animator Genndy Tartakovsky, who also made Samurai Jack.
2. Scavengers Reign, 2023
Rotten Tomatoes Score: 100%
A spaceship crashes near the distant planet Vesta. Most of the passengers remain in cryosleep, but some of the awake crew members land on different parts of the planet.
Astronaut Sam and his companion Ursula try to reach the crashed ship. Along the way, they encounter various flora and fauna of the planet: some help them, the rest try to kill them.
At the same time, a man named Azi grows crops with the help of a robot, but realizes that the machine has gained consciousness. And the gloomy loner Kamen falls under the influence of a creature from Vesta and dives into memories.
3. The Legend of Vox Machina, 2022-...
Rotten Tomatoes Score: 100%
A ragtag group of misfit mercenaries called Vox Machina take on small jobs, but mostly just drink and cause trouble.
One big job catches their attention: defeating a dragon that is ravaging the local countryside. This task is only the beginning of their adventures: after receiving their own castle as a reward, they find themselves embroiled in even more difficult challenges.
The Legend of Vox Machina grew out of the web series Critical Role, which featured actors playing Dungeons & Dragons and other board games. However, you don't need to know the original game to enjoy the adaptation: the story is told from the ground up.
4. Blood of Zeus, 2020-...
Rotten Tomatoes Score: 100%
Young Heron and his mother Electra live in an unnamed Greek city-state. The townspeople do not like them: they pay them a pittance for any work and blame them for all misfortunes.
But when the settlement is attacked by demons, it turns out that Heron must save the inhabitants and, at the same time, the world. For he is the son of the Olympic god Zeus himself.
Fans of high-quality animation, Greek mythology and spectacular action should not miss Blood of Zeus. This colorful, dynamic and exciting series has proven to be even better than another popular animated project, Castlevania.
5. Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, 2022
Rotten Tomatoes Score: 100%
The series is based on the game Cyberpunk 2077, but tells a new story in the same world. Fans of the original will appreciate the many references, and for those not familiar with the game, this is simply a fascinating show about the obsession with technology and the confrontation with corporations.
The plot is diluted with spectacular action: characters with cyber implants engage in shootouts, car chases, and hand-to-hand combat. Some of them fall into "cyberpsychosis" and become completely uncontrollable.
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners also raises topics of addiction and the endless pursuit of perfection that inevitably leads to self-destruction.
