Ex-James Bond Claims the Star of Sony's 16% RT Superhero Flop Is the Ultimate New Agent 007
Sorry, it’s hard to associate the man with anything but Sony’s latest fumble even though he doesn’t deserve it.
We’ve been dealing with a blatant overabundance of movie franchises in the past few years, and it’s never morally wrong to point out that most of them are redundant.
But among the one-too-many of them, some have definitely withstood the test of time and deserve to carry on even after decades upon decades of the same old dance.
For one, we’d never want Agent 007 to go away.
Throughout all the iterations, James Bond has been changing in accordance to the times, from Sean Connery’s golden classic to Daniel Craig ’s most modern and ruthless superspy. Six actors in, the iconic suit is in dire need of a new star to fill the shoes, and many fans (us included) have been speculating about the potential candidates for a few years now.
But as an audience, we’re outsiders to Agent 007’s universe. What do we know, really? It’s always better to “hear it from the man,” so to speak. And in this case, “the man” is Pierce Brosnan himself, the fifth (and arguably, the best) James Bond. While on The Ray D'Arcy Show, the actor shared his thoughts on who should enjoy the one and only shaken, not stirred.
“[Aaron Taylor-Johnson has] got the profile, in terms of age and experience. He's got the physical prowess, the charisma, the language. He would be terrific. So, yes, I read the news about his chances of being Bond, so I'd take my hat off to the mate,” Brosnan mused.
While Taylor-Johnson’s latest outing as Kraven the Hunter was underwhelming at best and disastrous at worst (we’re talking 16% on Rotten Tomatoes and 5.4 IMDb score), he’s quite a prominent actor. And from what we’ve gathered, he actually fits the bill for the new James Bond: just young and athletic enough and not quite Cavill-level of famous.
With the endorsement from Pierce Brosnan himself, it appears that Aaron Taylor-Johnson will have to be at least considered for the part now. Perhaps, this is just what the actor needs to wash off the stain of Kraven the Hunter: some good old superspy action in a stellar suit.
