Daredevil Fans Would Rather Cancel Born Again Altogether
Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it.
Daredevil fans have spent years urging Marvel to revive the Daredevil series. And now they got their wish granted…
…By the monkey's paw, apparently.
Daredevil: Born Again is coming to Disney Plus, scheduled to premiere in spring of 2024. And the old fans are so dismayed by the news about this revival, that quite a number of them (judging by the number of likes and retweets of the message below) would rather see the series canceled altogether.
What incensed them so much? Well, more generally, the fans are pissed about Born Again being a reboot, rather than Season 4 of the original Netflix series. But if you are a fan of superhero comics and media based on them, you are probably used to reboots and continuity wipes. And there are equally general fears that the dark and moody atmosphere of the original will be replaced with the usual MCU action-comedy fare.

But there is also a far more specific reason for the fan anger, expressed so sharply in the tweet above: the Netflix Daredevil had three fan-favorite supporting characters: Foggy Nelson (Elden Hensen), Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll), and Elektra Natchios (Elodie Yung). And as it appears, this trio will not be returning in the new show.
Now, it is not set in stone that they are not returning. Not all of the details about the series have been released yet, since its announcement this September, and, in particular there is no full list of the cast. But there is strong evidence pointing at this possibility.
Charlie Cox ( who's returning to reprise his role as Matt Murdock) did not confirm whether the above-mentioned trio would rejoin him on set. And Woll confirmed that she has not been approached yet, even though she would like to play in a Daredevil series again.

There also were rumors that Elektra could be recast, with Eiza Gonzalez replacing Elodie Yung, but those were refuted by Gonzalez herself.
So far, of all the old cast, only Cox and Vincent D'Onofrio were definitely confirmed to return. They will be joined by some new faces. Whether this mix would manage to placate the fans and rekindle interested in the series, remains to be seen.
