Now he’s ready to make things right with the Community movie.

Entertainment history is littered with examples of very chaotic and toxic environments on the sets of the funniest and most innocuous shows. The sitcom genre does not exclude very high-profile people, and when these people clash behind the scenes, the job becomes horrible for everyone involved.

This was definitely the case with Dan Harmon's Community, which was in the news for years, and for the worst reasons. From the racism scandal between Chevy Chase and Donald Glover to Dan Harmon's unexpected exit by being fired from his own show by NBC.

Those were the times that sent shivers down the spine of even the most casual viewer, let alone anyone who was involved in those situations.

However, enough years have passed to reflect on what went wrong and how it can all be fixed. In fact, Dan Harmon himself would be the first person to share the vulnerable details of his personal state back in 2012, when it felt like he had hit rock bottom. He mentioned it in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter:

“At one point, I was sure I had either a tumor or that I was going to have a heart attack, and my wife at the time kept saying, ‘You got fired from your NBC show and you haven’t acknowledged it yet,’ and of course she was right. I wasn’t acknowledging that I was hurt. I never would have wanted to admit that,” the writer shared.

Though it was hard to work through all the overwhelming emotions, and Harmon ended up in therapy, these events in his life were a huge learning curve. Now that he has all the tools to express himself through his art without going overboard and harming others around him, Dan Harmon is ready to redeem himself with the Community movie.

As of today, the release date of the Community movie is unknown. It was already in the late stages of pre-production when the WGA and SAG AFTRA strikes hit, so it's easy to imagine the cast and crew going back to the same stage when the strikes are resolved. Until then, you can watch the original Community series on Netflix.
