Criminal Minds Revival: Where Nothing Makes Sense, but We'll Keep Watching Anyway
Criminal Minds: Evolution brought our favs back, and with them – more confusion.
Some Criminal Minds fans are already finding themselves confused with the events shown in Season 16 first half.
"Ngl I kinda got lost in episode 4, like I actually have no idea what's going on now," one of the Criminal Minds fans admitted on Reddit.
In Episode 4, the BAU continues to look for links and clues that could help find notorious Sicarius before his kill kits claim more lives. Meanwhile, two unsubs start to attack houses, overriding security systems and killing security guards.
Criminally Underrated Supernatural Moment That Will Hit You Right in the Feels
The team concludes that this case might be linked to the Sicarius killer network. Their profile helps to identify unsubs as two brothers who suffered a house invasion trauma in their childhood. After the BAU catches the brothers, it turns out the unsubs have never been linked to Sicarius, and the team is back to square one. Though the episode reminded viewers of the original series, they were confused about how the BAU ended up involved in a case having nothing to do with the case of the season.
"That was weird, it was like an episode from the original run and at the end they're like, nope not what we were looking for," one of the fans commented.
Fans also noted that every episode of the revival feels like a movie which is also confusing. Maybe the reason for that is that Evolution changed the format of the show from "monster of a week" to "one case per season," and not all fans dig it.
"We had 15 years of the same "if it ain't broke don't fix" formula… them switching it up is kind of throwing it off," one comment read.
Even though some fans feel the story of Season 16 doesn't make sense and is too out there, other viewers loved the revival and what it had to offer.
"It feels more relevant than ever because of the pandemic and the characters feel like real people instead of law enforcement officers," an enthusiastic fan wrote.
All in all, both those who got lost in the plot of the revival and those who love the changes it brought said they were going to watch the new season to the end. Right now the show's on a winter break; the season will proceed on January 12 with weekly episodes dropping until the finale on February 9.
