Chris Hemsworth is Okay With Returning to Thor on One Condition
Thor will return... probably.
Despite hinting that he is tired of the God of Thunder, Chris Hemsworth is still willing to wield Thor's hammer. But there's one condition.
The actor pointed out that his character has to change in order to keep him invested.
"You look at Thor 1 and 2, they were quite similar. Ragnarok and Love and Thunder are similar. I think it's about reinventing it. I've had such a unique opportunity with Infinity War and Endgame to do very drastic things with the character. I enjoy that, I like keeping people on their toes. It keeps me on my toes. It keeps me invested. I've said this before but when it becomes too familiar, I think there's a risk in getting lazy then because I know what I'm doing," Hemsworth told Josh Horowitz.
His comments come as fans have become increasingly skeptical of the direction the story of the God of Thunder has taken under the direction of director Taika Waititi. In Ragnarok and Love and Thunder, Thor got a lot sillier, sometimes to a bizarre point where even serious and dramatic moments were laced with weird humor.

When Hemsworth calls for a change in tone, just about every Marvel fan is on his side, though opinions on what the perfect tone should be vary. Some believe the MCU should return to the Thor of Infinity War, while others yearn for a return to the golden days of the first Thor movies, when humor was not a big part of the Asgardian's identity.

Some people, meanwhile, are calling for the ultimate reboot.
Love and Thunder hinted that Thor will return in future projects, but both Waititi and Hemsworth said it was a surprise for them. For now, Marvel's plans for Thor's future in the cinematic universe remain vague.
Thor: Love and Thunder was released in theaters in July 2022, with the digital release on Disney Plus following later in September.
