‘As Good As Ever and Very Successful’: Tom Selleck Won’t Give Up on Blue Bloods Season 15
Tom Selleck claims he’s still “optimistic” about Blue Bloods’ future despite everything.
Summary:
- Despite CBS’s decision to cancel Blue Bloods after Season 14, neither fans nor cast are willing to comply.
- Tom Selleck, the Frank Reagan star, has been especially vocal against the cancellation in the past months.
- Recently, Selleck said in an interview that Blue Bloods is “a 15-season show” and he stays optimistic about its future.
Ever since CBS’s announcement of Blue Bloods’ cancellation in December 2023, Tom Selleck and, to a lesser extent, Donnie Wahlberg have been waging a two-man war against the network and its decision. Selleck, the on- and off-screen patriarch of Blue Bloods, has been especially vocal about it lately, urging the CBS management to “come to their senses” and openly claiming that the TV show is here to stay.
Tom Selleck Won’t Give Up on Blue Bloods
Despite the network’s seemingly set-in-stone decision, Tom Selleck refuses to lay down his arms. The star actor claims that Blue Bloods is designed to be a 15-season TV show, and he won’t rest until it’s made such. He believes they must keep going.
“[Blue Bloods is] a 15-season show. <...> With the strike, we did a 10-episode season, just like everybody else. But then we kept shooting, and we’re shooting right now. I’m not just gonna sit around doing a countdown. I’m gonna stay optimistic because everybody on the show wants to do it,” the Frank Reagan star explained to ET.
Admittedly, the show’s patriarch is willing to end Blue Bloods after Season 15, but not S14. And he has some data to back up his convictions: the show’s viewership.
Tom Selleck Battles Blue Bloods Misconceptions
Some Blue Bloods fans believe that the series has already run its course and should wrap up. To these people, Tom Selleck has something to say: the numbers. Currently, Blue Bloods stays in CBS’s Top 10 most viewed TV shows, meaning the viewers are still interested and invested in it and want to keep watching.
“Blue Bloods right now is rather wildly successful. <...> The people on our show — if and when it ends — deserve this kind of five-star entry on their resume. The reason I talk about it this much is really so the public doesn’t think we’re just kind of winding down and the show is tired. We’re as good as ever — and very successful,” Selleck claimed.
We’re quite thrilled with the Blue Bloods’ actors’ fight for the series’ survival, and can only wish Selleck, Wahlberg, and their colleagues good luck. The CBS management might still “come to their senses,” after all, especially with strong fan support.
