These two have delivered one incredible movie after another, so why not revisit them while you wait for their upcoming sixth collaboration.

The duo of Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio seems to be a match made in heaven, as they have brought us one amazing movie after another. And with their sixth collaboration (aside from 2015's comedy short The Audition), Killers of the Flower Moon, coming out relatively soon, on October 6, 2023, let's go through the five Scorsese movies starring DiCaprio in ranking order.

5. The Aviator (2004)

Based on the life of Howard Hughes, who left an outstanding impact on film and aviation industry, as well as popular culture, becoming the inspiration for countless fictional characters, the movie is a true masterpiece (like many of Scorsese's works). Leonardo DiCaprio gave a marvelous performance as the genius himself, perfectly conveying his struggles.

4. Gangs of New York (2002)

This movie was the starting point of a beautiful friendship between Scorsese and DiCaprio, so it is hard to underestimate its importance. Set in 1846 New York City, the story revolves around young Amsterdam Vallon (DiCaprio), who tries to avenge his father, who was killed by the ruthless "Bill the Butcher," played by the one and only Daniel Day-Lewis, who arguably outshines even the then-young actor.

3. Shutter Island (2010)

Shutter Island frequently appears on all sorts of "most shocking twists" lists, and for good reason. Its convoluted story constantly tries to mislead the viewer, leading to a completely unexpected finale. But even if you're familiar with the twist after so many years, DiCaprio's brilliant performance as Edward "Teddy" Daniels makes the movie well worth your time.

2. The Wolf of Wall Street (2013)

Leonardo's portrayal of real-life financial criminal Jordan Belfort is a solid testament to the actor's incredible range, as not many people would have been able to make the slimy con man remotely likable. But he pulled it off perfectly, delivering an unforgettable performance that kept audiences glued to the screen for the entire movie.

1. The Departed (2006)

Many fans consider this 2006 movie to be the duo's magnum opus, as they haven't managed to top it since. The Departed is almost flawless, from the magnificent acting of Leonardo DiCaprio, who plays undercover cop Billy Costigan, and the rest of the cast, to an incredibly gripping story full of unexpected twists and turns. Truly a movie for the ages.
