They may be nice people, but they can be horribly wrong at times.

Grey's Anatomy has been holding a very special place in the hearts of thousands of ABC viewers for almost 20 years now. At this point, every fan has found themselves a favorite character, someone who they love and are willing to forgive no matter what. Luckily, the Shondaland show has no shortage of conflict for everyone to get invested in.

No matter how good the people who work at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital are, they all are prone to making mistakes. These five characters have made some pretty horrible ones, but the audience can't stop loving them still.

Alex Karev

This character wasn't always consistently good, staying in the gray area for years. However, at one point in the show, Karev looked like the best character out there, but then he messed things up and beat up DeLuca. Whether or not he deserved that, beating someone almost to death is not the way to handle things.

Miranda Bailey

Not everyone can handle power well, and Bailey was quick to show her true colors after becoming Chief of Surgery. Many viewers noted that she became increasingly egocentric and obnoxious following the promotion, which did not make the character look good at all.

Teddy Owens

There isn't a single fan who could justify the love triangle between Teddy, Owen, and Tom, but there was one person who could easily stop it but never did. Getting back together with Owen while Tom was building a baby crib and clearly showing his affection, only to cheat on Owen with him later… Teddy had a lot of emotions to sort out.

Arizona Robbins

No matter how great Arizona was with kids and adults around her, and how strong she had proven to be through her recovery, the way she treated Callie was just horrible at times. Of course, the worst thing of all is that she cheated on Callie with Lauren.

Meredith Grey

Yes, Meredith Grey has a lot of great qualities, but the character's problem is that many of her decisions are made out of emotion. That often leads her into trouble and affects other people around her as well. Ruining Derek's Alzheimer's clinical trial was the worst decision on her part, which cost Derek his research career and destroyed her relationship with him.
