These days it’s a very well-known fact that Leonardo DiCaprio was never into superhero movies, even though back in the day the actor must have been flooded with such offers that would have brought him impressive pay-checks.
Rumors had it that the actor was even considered for Sam Raimi ’s Spider-Man — the role that eventually was given to DiCaprio’s best friend Tobey Maguire.
However adamant the actor’s principles seem to be, they don’t really impede him to at least discuss some superhero stuff.
As Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’s director Zack Snyder recently revealed, he had a meeting with DiCaprio concerning his possible appearance as villainous Lex Luthor in the 2016 movie — despite knowing the answer in advance, Snyder apparently didn’t lose hope.
Though the high expectations never materialized and the role eventually went to Jesse Eisenberg, the director doesn’t look back at it as at something with no use — quite the contrary, he actually picked some ideas up after talking to DiCaprio.
As Snyder recalled, the actor even had some brilliant suggestions about the character that he never got to portray.
Zack Snyder’s revelations come as one more proof that DiCaprio is to this day haunted by tempting and well-paid offers coming from superhero franchises, but nothing seems to work out anyway.
However hard the directors try to find a different approach and talk him into changing his mind, the actor is simply not interested in wasting his talent on such mass and simplified films — and the chance that we’ll ever see him in something like this is getting lower rather than increasing.
