It's not easy to admit your failures.

There are always ups and downs in anyone's career. Whether you are a president or a McDonald's cashier, you will face challenges that can bring you down and make you feel bad about your competence. However, not everyone faces their failures under the pressure of a public eye constantly watching their every move.

The actor may put on a great performance for years, but once they hit a bump in the road, they will be completely scrutinized by critics, the media, and even some of their loyal fans. Facing challenges is hard enough, but the publicity makes it even harder.

That is why it is completely understandable that Zachary Levi is unable to move on from the failure of Shazam's sequel. Like any other person who is passionate about what they do, the actor disagrees with the way the film was received and continues to defend it in every interview and podcast.

Recently, Levi further expressed his disappointment while being a guest on The FilmUp Podcast. The actor believes that he knows exactly why Fury of the Gods is so controversial:

"Social media has shifted so much. Hate, online hate and haters and trolls, and factions and all that has just gotten more galvanized in its toxicity. I think there are people who genuinely, unfortunately, want to destroy certain projects because they don't like them, or they don't like me, or they don't like other people involved in them or whatever".

Although critics panned the movie for many more reasons than just simple dislike, there may be some truth to what Levi says. The actor faced a lot of controversy before the movie was released, and audiences may have decided not to support the project because of his actions.

Whether or not that's fair to all the other cast and crew members who worked hard to make Shazam! Fury of the Gods is debatable. However, the deed was already done, as the Shazam sequel bombed at the box office, grossing a dismal $133 million worldwide.
