Though in real life the line had a somewhat same aim.

Having just finished its several-year-long run a couple of weeks ago, The Big Bang Theory ’s prequel Young Sheldon had all of its seasons’ focus on Sheldon Cooper’s life in Texas as a child and then as a teenager enlarging the iconic character’s world for curious fans around the world.

Those who have been the original show’s lovers ever since it premiered back in 2007 surely had a list of things they needed more details about before Young Sheldon finally hit the screens, and many of those things had something to do with Sheldon’s quirky personality.

Apart from all of his other peculiar habits, the character’s catchphrase “Bazinga!” is introduced in The Big Bang Theory at a very random moment with no real explanation for fans, but in this case Young Sheldon did make it all clear.

In the original series, Sheldon repeatedly used “Bazinga!” every time he successfully pranked someone, but the phrase appeared in the show quite unexpectedly and was never explained by Sheldon himself. However, in Young Sheldon the origin of yet another quirky habit of the character doesn’t seem to intertwine with any significant event, be that something either tragic or joyful, but rather is just a mere observation that comes from Sheldon’s younger version.

In the prequel it’s clear that “Bazinga!” isn’t a word made up by Sheldon himself, but just a part of some novelty toy company's slogan. Given that the weird word seems to be as eccentric as the character himself, it doesn’t come as a surprise to fans who instantly assumed that Sheldon would stick to such an extraordinary word that would highlight his personality’s difference.

Diving deeper into the word’s story, it actually comes from a real-life situation. Some people who worked on the original show, including Sheldon’s actor Jim Parsons, admitted that “Bazinga!” had initially been mentioned by The Big Bang Theory writer Stephen Engel who was used to saying the word every time he pranked someone.

Engel guaranteed his favorite word’s worldwide fame after he pranked the show’s creator Bill Prady who, in his turn, found such a catchphrase good enough to insert it in the script.
