What Is March Madness?

CBS has changed its schedule to cover March Madness, the annual NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament. For those who don't follow sports and have no idea what it's all about, it's a championship to determine the best college basketball team, which has become one of the biggest sporting events in the US.

Known for its frequent upsets of heavily favored teams, the tournament attracts a large number of viewers who watch the games the way avid TV fans watch new episodes of their favorite shows. The 2024 tournament, which runs from March 19 to April 8, has taken two episodes of Young Sheldon from its usual time slot.

CBS has produced and aired the NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament since 1982, when the network replaced NBC, and there are no signs that the network will give up its sports partnership anytime soon. In fact, in 2022, CBS renewed the contract for another 7 seasons of the tournament.

The event takes place every March, so the scheduling changes were expected. Young Sheldon will return to its usual time slot on April 4 with an episode 6 of season 7 titled Baptists, Catholics and an Attempted Drowning.
