What is wrong with Sheldon, and how can we explain it?

Young Sheldon fans shared their observation on Reddit saying that our beloved little genius, Sheldon Cooper, seems to be getting more and more arrogant with each passing season.

Let’s try to find the reasons behind Sheldon's increasing arrogance and how it shapes his character.

Right from the start, it was clear that Sheldon was one smart child. But as the seasons roll on, his intellectual superiority becomes even more apparent. He's light years ahead of his peers, and that can really have an effect on a kid's head.

With no one around who can challenge his intelligence, Sheldon starts believing he's the smartest person in the universe.

We all know Sheldon is as socially awkward as they come. Understanding sarcasm, irony, or those subtle hints is certainly not his strongest point.

By acting what appears to be arrogant, Sheldon tries to cover up his social ineptitude. It's like a shield he puts up, protecting himself from the awkwardness that comes with interacting with others.

Moreover, Sheldon's self-confidence needs a serious boost. Arrogance becomes his go-to strategy for faking it till he makes it.

By projecting an air of superiority, he hopes to convince everyone (including himself) that he's got it all figured out, even if deep down he might not fully believe it himself.

Sheldon's arrogance is not entirely to his credit. His mom, in particular, never misses a chance to remind him how brilliant he is. And let's be honest, all that praise may have negative effects.

When everyone keeps telling Sheldon he is a genius, it's no wonder his ego keeps inflating like a balloon.

Growing up in a small town in Texas during the '80s wasn't exactly an ideal environment for developing Sheldon's unique gifts. The lack of diverse perspectives and challenging experiences only reinforced his belief that he was leagues above everyone else.

Fans generally agree that current Sheldon is indeed more arrogant and sometimes does things that could be seen as cute when he was younger, but not now.

That is probably the reason why so many fans love witnessing other characters more than Sheldon.
