Young Sheldon, Blue Bloods and 6 More Hit Shows Ending in 2024

Once WGA and SAG-AFTRA members were able to negotiate satisfactory contract terms with the AMPTP, the television and motion picture industries immediately bounced back. Suspended projects resumed production, new ones were announced, and audiences finally got to see new seasons of their favorite shows. Along with the announcements and renewals, there's also news that some popular series are coming to an end.

Some of these projects are coming to a logical conclusion, some are being forced to end due to on-set drama and creative deadlock, and some have been decided to end in order to cut costs and save budgets.

Anyway, let's take a look at the hit series whose final seasons will be released as early as 2024.

8. La Brea, Season 3

At the beginning of this year, one of the most panned sci-fi series of recent years will end, NBC's La Brea, which tells the story of how sinkholes formed in the Los Angeles area and the Mahwah Desert ten thousand years ago. The final season will be released on January 9 and will consist of only 6 episodes.

7. Young Sheldon, Season 7

On February 15, CBS will premiere the final season of the network's flagship sitcom, prequel spinoff to The Big Bang Theory Young Sheldon. As the season will be shortened to 14 episodes instead of the usual 22, fans are concerned about whether the script will be able to cover all the pivotal moments in Sheldon's life.

6. Blue Bloods, Season 14

The very next day, February 16, CBS will air another flagship series that has topped Friday night television since 2010, the police procedural and family drama Blue Bloods. For the final season to see the light of day, the cast has volunteered to take a pay cut. The season will be split into two parts and consist of 18 episodes, and the second half will be released in the fall of 2024.

5. S.W.A.T., Season 7

Another conclusion for a long-running CBS series — the seventh and final season of the crime drama S.W.A.T. will air on the same day, February 16. The show was originally canceled in May 2023, but in the face of fan outrage, network executives agreed to renew it for one final season. It will also be shortened to 13 episodes.

4. SEAL Team, Season 7

The military drama about the elite unit of the U.S. Navy SEALs, which moved from CBS to the Paramount+ streaming platform, will conclude with a seventh season in November 2024.

3. Yellowstone, Season 5, Part 2

Despite all the conflicts with Kevin Costner, the final episodes of Paramount Network's Yellowstone will make it to our screens after all. Season 5, Part 2 will be released as early as November 2024, but it is still unknown if John Dutton will appear or if he will be killed off-screen.

2. Superman & Lois, Season 4

Here comes the end of an era for live-action series produced by The CW. Sometime in 2024, the final season of Superman & Lois show will air. Reasons for the end include The CW's budget cuts, the departure of most of the supporting cast, and the DCEU's own plans for new projects.

1. The Umbrella Academy, Season 4

Netflix announced last year that the superhero drama, based on the comic book of the same name, written by MCR lead-vocalist Gerard Way, would be getting a fourth and final season. However, the exact release date remains unknown, somewhere around 2024.
