The character might’ve had some beef with his mother-in-law.

Young Sheldon ’s seven-season-long television run is over after the show’s finale hit CBS a few weeks ago, and though The Big Bang Theory ’s prequel got a relatively happy ending, it still turned out somewhat bittersweet. Many long-standing fans of the original show definitely saw it coming, but George Sr.’s tragic death in the final season’s episode 13 still shattered some hearts.

After all, Young Sheldon made it pretty clear that George had suffered a fatal heart attack, though one of the show’s actresses recently took to the social media to reveal her own version of why the series let the character go.

As fans were quick to get to the internet expressing their feelings about Young Sheldon’s finale and especially George’s death, Annie Potts also decided to step in. In the show, the actress has been portraying Mary’s mother and Sheldon’s grandmother Meemaw for years and has got lots of fans’ attention not only due to her goofy way of dealing with life’s difficulties and her character’s sarcastic nature, but also thanks to a bit tense relationship between her and her son-in-law George.

Having decided to give heartbroken fans her support, Potts somehow got back to her character and offered an alternate ending for George’s storyline which actually could’ve been wrapped up in a more sinister way.

Several days ago the actress took to her Instagram account posting a picture of her and George’s actor Lance Barber on Young Sheldon’s set. Potts is seen with an evil grin threatening Barber with a knife, while the latter appears to be falsely horrified at the idea of being killed by his mother-in-law. The actress published the photo, captioning it with an eerie question for the audience “How did George really die?”.

Potts’ humorous post referring to her character’s complicated relationship with George has seemingly had the effect the actress initially had in mind as the comment section was quickly filled with reactions from Young Sheldon fans expressing their appreciation for Potts’ attempt to make them feel better after the finale.

Still, nobody could’ve even imagined such a turn of events for the show’s real ending as everyone just loved Meemaw, so she wouldn’t be able to do such a thing to George after all.
