You Would Never Believe What Jenna Ortega and Joey Tribbiani Have in Common
Wednesday's Jenna Ortega is no less of a bad girl than the title character herself.
On a recent episode of the Armchair Expert podcast, the actress revealed that she'd had to break some rules while filming the hit Netflix series. Frankly, we expected no less!
You may be wondering what this has to do with Joey Tribbiani from Friends. Is it the fact that he is also an actor? You are getting warmer.
Much like Joey, the young actress changed her lines on the show without discussing it with the scriptwriters. She says that some of her character's behavior "did not make sense".
Ortega believes that playing Wednesday led her to "put her foot down" in a completely different way than her previous experiences on the set. We wish we were that brave at 20 years old…
Ortega mentions that the line that was originally in the script about her reaction to the dress made her go "no" and even become "almost unprofessional" because she just kept changing lines to make her Wednesday more real and believable.
We are not really complaining as what we got as the end result is great!
Jenna even remembers having to explain to the writers why she could not play Wednesday a certain way that was envisioned in the script. That girl has guts!
Apparently, the actress is either simply not afraid of suffering Joey's unfortunate fate because she has already signed the contract for Season 2, or she just believes that speaking her truth is more important.
In any case, we just hope that she reprises her role as Wednesday in the next season!
Some fans say that the actress might be exaggerating her contribution to the script or "trying to claim producer credit." The reason?
In the same podcast, Ortega mentions that she did not like the whole love triangle thing. Yet it was still explored in the show.
Could it be that there used to be more to it, or were some of Jenna's ideas simply disregarded? We may never know.
However, given Jenna's passion for staying true to her character, we are not at all surprised that she will be an executive producer starting from Season 2!
The new position is very well-deserved, and maybe there will be no more love triangles this time…?
