Yes, That Barbie Scene Is a Carbon Copy of the One from Jojo Rabbit

In the trailer, there is a scene where Barbie, played by Margot Robbie, greets other Barbies and Kens on a person-by-person (or rather doll-by-doll?) basis, and it ends up being a swarm of "Hi, Barbie!" before everyone is finally done.

Fans were quick to notice a striking similarity to a certain scene in another live-action movie – specifically, 2019's Jojo Rabbit.

In that scene, Herman Deertz, played by Stephen Merchant, does the same thing, but Nazi-style, when he starts the "Heil, Hitler!" chain as he comes in to greet his fellows.

The Barbie scene would have been funny on its own, without this unexpected nod to the Hitler scene, but this just adds more flavor to it.

The Greta Gerwig-directed comedy is set to be released in July 2023, and we simply can't wait.

Barbie stars Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling in the main roles, but they are joined by a large supporting cast, including Kate McKinnon, Dua Lipa, Ncuti Gatwa, Helen Mirren, and Michael Sera.

Such a rich ensemble has got to give us the masterpiece we are all hoping for, right?

Hopefully, the highly anticipated feature film will turn out to be as unproblematic as it can get (one Hitler reference is more than enough).

The entire Barbie franchise has been under fire for years due to Mattel (the company that makes the dolls) setting unrealistic beauty standards for young girls.

The company has tried to right its past wrongs with several attempts at Barbie diversity, but this new movie can really become the "make it or break it" moment for the whole Barbie phenomenon.

2023's Barbie can fix all the feminism-related problems (Greta Gerwig is famous for her work in this department) that Mattel has created for itself, or it can make things much, much worse.

So far, the movie is looking good, so let's hope it really is when it comes out! All the signs point to it, right?
