Yellowstone Became a Game of Allies, and This Duo Could Destroy Duttons For Good (But Won't)
Jamie Dutton, the adopted son of John (Kevin Costner), has been burning numerous bridges in season five of Yellowstone. It's true, the sibling has always been the outsider of the Dutton clan, nevertheless, the decisions Jamie has made this season have backed him into a corner he might not be able to escape.
The season began promising for the character who is promoted to Attorney General of Montana. It's a crucial position that enables Jamie to serve at the highest legal capacity in the state while also protecting and defending his high-profile father. However, Jamie has frequently clashed in the past not only with John but his bitter step-sister Beth. In fact, the mid-season finale of season five (teasers ahead) culminated with Beth threatening his life after seeking vengeance for electing to impeach John Dutton.
For those that still root for Jamie to succeed, it's clear he is going to have his work cut out once season five resumes this summer.
There is absolutely no possibility of the stubborn and ruthless Beth backing down from her declaration of war. Furthermore, John has always favored Beth over Jamie so there is no doubt which side he is going to take, especially considering he may lose his position as Governor thanks to Jamie.
Everything Can Go Wrong on Yellowstone but This Couple is Safe
Recently, Wes Bentley, who portrays Jamie Dutton on Yellowstone, sat down with Entertainment Weekly to discuss the future of the character. During the candid interview, Bentley was more than frank regarding the direction of his character on the show. In fact, he all but advocated that Jamie should join forces with Chief Thomas Rainwater as a method to protect and preserve the property.
Bentley agrees that it would be "interesting" for Jamie to become allies with Rainwater. After all, the character understands that Rainwater is one of the few people who despise John Dutton more than anyone else on the show.
The actor forecasts a time period in Yellowstone where characters are going to need to team up and gain allies for what he estimates will be a "war". Therefore, Bentley foresees this opportunity as a move in the "game of allies".
Rainwater has been attempting to reclaim Yellowstone Ranch since the beginning of the show.
The Chief argues that the indigenous people of Broken Rock Indian Reservation are entitled to the land which was stolen from them by Dutton's ancestors. Accordingly, it definitely makes sense that Jamie may seek the support of Rainwater should things continue to devolve, which is likely. However, that also doesn't mean the ploy will be successful.
The plans for how Yellowstone will end are unclear. Creator Taylor Sheridan has not revealed any hints or indications regarding the direction of the story. As a result, fans are left to sit back and anticipate what will happen next.
