The show's decline began long before its eighth season.

Game of Thrones is known for its political intrigue, bloody battles, and incredibly exciting storylines that run throughout the series. However, not every arc has managed to captivate viewers. And fans have decided to pick out the weakest parts of the narrative.

3. Arya in the House of Black and White

After an exciting adventure in Westeros, Arya traveled to Braavos, where she tried to learn the ways of the Many-Faced God.

The slow and confusing narrative failed to capture the essence of Lady Stark's character. Instead of showing her skills and growth as an assassin, the story focused on routine tasks and repetitive training footage.

Fans were disappointed that Arya's potential was wasted, and the arc became a tedious subplot that added little to the overall storyline. The series was slowly drifting away from the book source material. For some viewers, this was a sign that the show was in a downward spiral.

2. Jaime and Bronn in Dorne

Equally disappointing was the journey of the Kingslayer and his mercenary. Jaime, after losing his right arm, has become a regular warrior who can't wield a sword as skillfully as he used to. Nevertheless, Lannister and Bronn set out to rescue Princess Myrcella from the Southern Kingdom.

Many viewers thought the deviation from the book was unnecessary — the entire Dorne arc was invented by the writers from start to finish. Some fans felt that Jaime and Bronn's adventures were more of a side story that didn't fit into the overall narrative and wasn't compelling enough to watch.

1. The Three-Eyed Raven

But perhaps the worst plot development was Bran's quest behind the Wall. Early in the series, the young Stark lost the ability to walk but gained the power to see the past and future and to inhabit living things.

The writers painstakingly brought Bran and the Night King together. Viewers dreamed that the showrunners would provide an intriguing conclusion to this arc, but it did not happen.

Stark did turn into the Three-Eyed Raven, but the epic battle never took place. Bran's development was left until almost the end of the series, where he eventually became the King of Westeros.

Did you enjoy the Three-Eyed Raven storyline?

The writers' inattention to detail and the lack of material from the books began to sink the most important series of the 21st century from the fifth season on.
