Worst Animated TV Show That Ruined Your Favorite Series Gets a Season 2 on Max
They weren’t done ruining our childhood the first time around, it seems.
Summary:
- Max’s adult animated series Velma will release its Season 2 on April 25, 2024.
- Velma Season 1 received overwhelmingly negative reviews and got a 7% Audience Score on Rotten Tomatoes.
- Despite the massive backlash, many viewers hate-watched the entire Season 1, securing a renewal for the series.
Very few golden classic adaptations get dubbed as faithful by the original fans. Most get called decent at best, and horrific at worst since when you’re building upon something that was iconic when you were a toddler already, it’s hard to hit the right spot. But some adaptations don’t even try to do that: they arrive to ruin everything.
Just straight-up take a beloved franchise and burn it to the ground with the new version.
Velma Season 2 Got a Release Date
On the topic of destroying people’s fondest childhood memories, Max’s adult animated TV show Velma is almost ready for its Season 2 premiere. The new series will be released on April 25, 2024. While Velma Season 1 released its episodes weekly, the upcoming series learned its lesson and will dump all episodes at once.
According to the official premise, in Season 2, Velma “must find a way to balance her detective work with the demands of her newfound popularity before it’s too late. Meanwhile, her faithful friends Daphne, Norville, and Fred are powerless to help thanks to their own personal battles and worse… Detention.”
Velma’s Season 2 Renewal Wasn’t a Great Move
Velma Season 1 “raked up” a sensational 7% Audience Score on Rotten Tomatoes and invoked nothing but hatred and resentment in its viewers. After that, the target audience of Velma Season 2 remains a mistake for most people, but there are some lessons to be learned from its unlikely and arguably pointless Season 2 renewal.
The very fact that Velma received a second chance perfectly explains why hate-watching is harmful. Thousands upon thousands of people hate-watched Velma Season 1 just to post about how terrible it was on social media, and where did it take the show? Not just to outstandingly terrible scores, but also to a Season 2 renewal.
If Velma doesn’t change its crooked childhood-ruining ways and invokes the same reaction from the audience as the previous season did (which we’re pretty certain it will), we should all learn from our past mistakes — and maybe not hate-watch the ever-living hell out of Season 2. We’ll be bummed to write about Velma Season 3.
