The Starks sure know something about the evil that lurks beyond the Wall.

In Game of Thrones, the White Walker threat has been central to every other plot even though no one realized it: no political backstabbing and power struggles would’ve paid off if the undead army conquered Westeros a few weeks later. But the White Walkers have been around for millenia, meaning that during House of the Dragon events, they were lurking beyond the Wall, nurturing their plans.

But will the previous generations of Targaryens have to deal with them?

Cregan Stark Mentioned the Walkers

The Starks don’t play nearly as significant a role in House of the Dragon as they did in Game of Thrones, but they are nonetheless the ones who know the most about the North, including the True North. During his rather short appearance in Season 2 Episode 1, Cregan Stark did refer to the White Walker, though in an enigmatic way.

Specifically, Lord Cregan mentioned that the Wall was built to keep out “death,” which may confuse new fans but sounds obvious to the OGs. The White Walkers are the “death” he spoke about, of course — but other than that one line, there’s little to nothing that indicates the Targaryens’ need to address the undead threat in HotD.

Or is there?

House of the Dragon May, In Fact, Show White Walkers

While it’s true that so far, we haven’t had any reason to believe the Targaryens will set off to the True North in the show itself, there are other sources of information. In particular, there was a peculiar leak a few months ago: in the HotD set’s parking lot, there were folks with huge set pieces of the Wall from Game of Thrones.

Yet another leak from the set revealed a guide to make-up for several groups of extras — and interestingly enough, there was a group called “undead” there. We doubt that had to do with rapcore, so altogether, these two leaks suggest we may yet catch a glimpse of the White Walkers in House of the Dragon… Or at least, the wights, which lowkey fit the description of the “undead” a lot better.

Should the Targaryens travel to the True North?
