Why Did Nicholas Chavez Leave General Hospital?
Even though his character was never actually shown dead, only presumed dead after falling off a boat into France's Seine River, the chances of Chavez returning to General Hospital anytime soon are now very slim.
After leaving the soap to pursue other opportunities, including Ryan Murphy's Netflix anthology series Monster, the actor finalized his decision and expressed his gratitude to both General Hospital executives and fans who have supported him along the way on X.
Just because Nicholas Chavez is not returning as Spencer Cassadine doesn't mean the character is gone forever. General Hospital is no stranger to bringing its favorites back from the dead, and bad boy Spencer could still show up on the streets of Port Charles with a different face at any time.
Will Spencer Cassadine Be Recast?
Right now, there's no official news about General Hospital casting someone else to fill Nicholas Chavez's shoes and bring Spencer back to viewers' screens. While his character was important and could have been developed a lot, Chavez's Spencer was so universally adored that the new actor might not be easily accepted.
Besides, for now, it seems that everyone in Port Charles has moved on from Spencer's unfortunate death, including Trina, who is now on the verge of a new romance. Maybe it would be best to give it some time and bring Spencer back when no one really expects it.
