Why 'Moon Knight' Writer Thinks He Should "Steer Clear From" Fantastic Four
Jeremy Slater just did the best job writing for the megahit Disney + series 'Moon Knight', but the writer himself still doesn't think he could write the script for the upcoming 'Fantastic Four' movie, even if Marvel Studios asked him to.
The head writer of Netflix 's 'Umbrella Academy' and Fox's 'The Exorcist' is still blamed by some Marvel fans for co-writing Josh Trank's disappointing 'Fantastic Four ' (2015).
The film, starring Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Michael B. Jordan and Jamie Bell, premiered to terrible reviews from critics and fans, who accused the director and screenwriters of ruining their favorite characters.
But it seems that some fans were pretty quick to jump to the conclusion about Slater's involvement. In a conversation with Comicbook, the writer finally revealed his role in the development of that ill-fated script.
"I don't think the original Fantastic Four was my fault per se, because I have one line of dialogue in that movie when Reed is about to do his science experiment as a kid, and he's like, "Don't blow up," I think that's the one line that held over from my script and everything else was changed," Slater said.
Slater has clearly redeemed himself in the eyes of Marvel fans with his inventive and clever 'Moon Knight ' script, but he has certainly not forgotten the previous negative experience, refusing to even consider writing the Krasinski-led film.
"I can't wait to see it as a fan, but I just know that no one will ever accept a Jeremy Slater Fantastic Four movie for very good reason. I think there's some things that I just probably need to steer clear from for the rest of my career," Slater added.
