He actually didn’t, but the internet had its reasons to think so too.

Zac Efron has been rising to a new level of fame in recent years after staying in the shadows amidst the immense success of his teen movie High School Musical — and the overwhelming attention wasn’t caused only by a number of promising projects for the actor’s career.

Back in 2021, Efron’s changed appearance became the internet’s new obsession causing lots of speculation about some plastic surgeries he had decided to go with.

Despite the wild rumors being considerably loud all across social media, Efron later admitted he personally had no clue about everyone’s interest in his physical changes.

Ironically, everyone else had no clue about the real reasons behind those changes either.

Talking about all the backlash he received due to the rumors back in the day, Efron revealed he’d never even considered undergoing any kind of plastic surgery in the first place, but what indeed happened to him was of a very different nature.

According to the actor, his altered look was nothing else but a repercussion of the time when in 2013 he fell in his house and broke his jaw, which eventually led to years of Efron’s visits to a physical therapist that helped him recover.

What probably became a fatal mistake was that Efron eventually had to stop the treatment due to the production start of his recent project Down to Earth with Zac Efron, and a break resulted in some certain muscles’ enlargement which made the jaw look like it was purposefully extended.

He also added that the accident hasn’t reached his fans because he generally prefers staying away from social media when it comes to the actor’s personal affairs.

Considering that, it’s easy to assume that no one could ever fathom a possibility of a broken jaw and thus many came up with the most plausible version of the events – though not the most respectful one.
