And so, three years of waiting are now over and fans will finally get a closer look at a major update of the Ghostbusters universe.
Will OG Actors Return to Ghostbusters: Afterlife Sequel?
First, there’s a bunch of fan-favorite characters (and actors) that are returning in the sequel. Phoebe Spengler, played by young star Mckenna Grace, is joining the hunters again, thus bringing into it some legacy of her grandfather, Egon Spengler, who was a member of the original Ghostbusters team.
Paul Rudd is portraying Gary Grooberson, a science teacher who somehow found himself fighting ghosts as well, even though didn’t plan so at all. Logan Kim will keep the role of the character called Podcast, Phoebe’s classmate who is passionate about recording conversations and his own thoughts (just like normal podcasts).
Finn Wolfhard, famous for his Stranger Things gig, is also coming back as Trevor Spengler, Phoebe’s brother whose brave actions in Ghostbusters: Afterlife brought him the audience’s love.
Last, but not the least comes Bill Murray playing Peter Venkman, a scientist who, after having had many doubts about ghosts’ existence, starts fighting them on the front line alongside other ghostbusters.
Who Will Kumail Nanjiani Play in Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire?
But there are also some new faces. James Acaster portrays a new member of the team, Lars Pinfield, who will definitely bring new ideas thanks to his passion for inventions and sharp intellectual skills.
At last, Kumail Nanjiani, who rose to prominence after appearing in Marvel Eternals, will also become a part of the Ghostbusters universe, but there’s still not many details about his character — even though some fans are suggesting Nanjiani will portray a yet-to-be-revealed villain.
