Who is Seasmoke, The New Dragon in 'House of the Dragon'?
Watch out: another fire-breather is officially in town.

If you love Caraxes and Syrax the most about 'House of the Dragons', then episode 3 has a new heart-stealer for you. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, we are here to welcome yet another dragon into the 'Game of Thrones ' prequel.
In the middle of the battle at the Stepstones, a silvery-grey dragon named Seasmoke appeared to shift the scales of advantage to Laenor Velaryon who rode it. Only appearing for a couple of seconds, the new dragon has immediately conquered the hearts of those who are already in love with Caraxes and Syrax.
Welcoming Seasmoke to the show, fans couldn't help but notice some similarities between Seasmoke and 'Game of Thrones' dragons, even guessing that he's also one of Dreamfyre's descendants. The newest 'House of the Dragon' fire-breathing creature indeed looks quite similar to Drogon, Viserion and Rhaegal who fans grew to admire on 'Game of Thrones'.
Even more so: many fans are actually pretty sure that dragons are the best part of 'House of the Dragon', and the show's team really did much better job with the dragons than the original series.
"I love that they made Seasmoke's color ring correct! That was something that always bothered me about Rheagal and especially Viserion. Rheagal was supposed to be a much more vivid green with bronze, and Viserion was supposed to be almost white with gold, but neither were far off from shades of brown depending on the lighting." – /DracarysHijinks
When it comes to size, Seasmoke seems to be about the same size as Syrax in the show, but in the books, it was of comparable size with Tessarion – a dragon about three times smaller than Vermithor.
Seasmoke is a young dragon, although it reached a fighting size at the time of the Dance of the Dragons. Bonded with Laenor Velaryon, it remained riderless for well over a decade after his death in 120 AC, according to the books. However, 'House of the Dragon' might as well be readying a different fate for both Laenor and Seasmoke.
Despite impressive performance at the Stepstones, Seasmoke is a lot less experienced and dangerous in battles when compared to the older dragons such as Caraxes and Syrax.
The showrunners have previously teased that there will be at least nine dragons introduced in the first season, so it means we can expect six more winged beasts to arrive over the course of the upcoming seven episodes.
'House of the Dragon' is streaming on HBO Max, with new episodes arriving every Sunday.
