The Acolyte continues its less than triumphant march. The new show in the Star Wars universe managed to collect a record number of negative reviews, but even in such failed work there are still rays of light.
The Acolyte gives us its share of intrigue: a new setting for the universe, a detective story, and for the first time since the 2000s, the Jedi Order is in the spotlight. Showrunner Leslye Headland promised to show the ambiguity of the Jedi, to reveal their motives and to humanize the representatives of the dark side of the Force.
The Acolyte's Mysterious Sith Lord Revealed
However, already in the second episode the key mystery is revealed. We learn who the killer really is and that a mysterious Dark Lord is behind it. But the second intrigue with the Sith Lord did not last long either – we were told the identity of the villain in the fifth episode, and it turned out to be Qimir, the one almost all viewers suspected.
Qimir's motives remain unknown, but it's already clear that he was just using Mae to get to Master Sol, and now he's got his eye on Osha.
And let's face it – The Acolyte may have failed, but he gave us the hottest Sith Lord ever in Manny Jacinto's performance.
But who is Manny Jacinto, the actor who plays Qimir and the man who made even those fans who didn't want to watch The Acolyte, well, start watching?
Manny Jacinto's Pre-Acolyte TV Shows
Manny Jacinto is a Canadian actor of Filipino descent who you may have seen on Supernatural – he played the supporting character Diego in Episode 20 of Season 8 titled Pac-Man Fever.
Manny also appeared in a supporting role in another popular show, Once Upon a Time. This time he got the role of Quon, the man who helped Pinocchio find the dragon that could cure him from turning back into wood in Episode 18 of Season 2 titled Selfless, Brave and True.
Fans of medical procedurals may have seen Jacinto in the recently concluded The Good Doctor. In Episode 10 of Season 1, Manny introduced viewers to Bobby Ato, a professional gamer who needs surgery so he can continue doing what he loves.
But Manny's biggest role, aside from Qimir on The Acolyte, was Jason Mendoza on The Good Place. Along with other main characters Eleanor, Chidi and Tahani, Jason became a fan favorite as we watched the sinners try to become better people over the course of four seasons.
